Thoughts on moving to Asheville, NC

Posted on January 3, 2016 with 0 comments

I've been wanting to slow down a little for a while now - have more time to get back to writing music - spend more time outdoors walking with my dog Riley and be closer to my family...

An opportunity presented itself recently to sell my apartment in NYC and buy one in Asheville near one of my sons so I decided that this must be the right time to make the big move. I've been visiting Asheville for about ten years since my son moved there so I am familiar with the area. But I've always lived in large urban areas (Chicago, NYC, South Florida) so I'm hoping I can make the adjustment to small town Southern living. I find that although New York has literally thousands of wonderful things to do on any given day, they either cost too much or they are so crowded that I can't enjoy them anyway so I'm thinking that smaller may very well be better for me at this stage of my life. I hope I can find an occasional jazz gig, maybe some new students and hopefully a Church gig to fill in income. Then when spring rolls around, I'm putting my feet up on my new deck and I'm going to plant some flowers and vegetables along the side of my house. Saying goodbye to everyone in New York has been really hard and I'm going to miss everyone but I'm really looking to a quieter type of life in the mountains....
