I wrote to Carla once telling her how much I loved "Ups and Downs" and she wrote back and sent me a hand written copy of the new and revised "Ups and Downs". I still treasure it.
Lyrics
Carla Bley is one of my favorite piano players and composers. Her songs, like Steve Swallow's, usually make me feel happy, they are unperdictable and frequently also are circular and begin again at the end. "Ups and Downs" is one of my favorite pieces to play.
