The story behind all of the tracks on "Soundscapes" is that there is no story - no key, no tempo, no prewritten framework of any kind - that's what makes it free jazz. There was a brief discussion before each track was recorded about who might start the playing off but no notated charts were used. Yet as you listen to it, you'll hear organized pieces that have beginnings, middles and endings and they don't sound random at all. That's what happens when you have schooled musicians who have been listening to and absorbing music for their entire lives. You sort fall into an organized chaos even when performing "free" jazz.
