THE BLOCK off biltmore, 39 S Market St (corner of Eagle & Market), Asheville, NC
11/11/16: Save the date:Marilynn Seits Jazz Duo, with Marilynn on piano and Sean McAusland on bass will be playing the music of bassist Charles Mingus on Friday November 11 - from 5-7 PM at The Block off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St (corner of Eagle and Market, 1 block east of Art Theater). If you're not familiar with Mingus's music, it is complex, sensual, driving and really beautiful. I had the privilege of hearing Mingus many times with his band live at the Five Spot in New York back in the 60's and 70's and later I heard the Mingus Band playing his arrangements and organized by his widow Sue Mingus after he passed on.
